visual studio .net general : vs2k5 sp2 :: ftp problem

When I try to create or publish a website with FTP, Visual Studio creates a
directory on the server but then it chokes. The Task Manager shows VS is not
responding, and I have to kill it.

Can anybody shed light on this?

Correction: it's SP 1, not SP 2.
