visual studio .net general : How Do I Get Help Files?

Hello, all.

I recently downloaded and installed the Visual Studio 2005 trial.
I already had SQL Server 2005 installed.

It appears that I have only the SQL Server documentation
installed. In Document Explorer, the "Filtered by" dropdown
contains 10 SQL Server topics, but nothing else, and searches
appear to bring up only SQL Server help.

I thought I had installed the VS help files, but loaded the DVD
again and found an option to modify the MSDN documentation. (I
assume this includes the integrated help?) I chose to install the
complete documentation, but cannot get the install to work. I get
a dialog saying it is installing files, then a prompt saying
"Please insert the disk: Visual Studio 2005 DVD."

When I explore the DVD, it looks like all the installation files
are there. Do I have a corrupt download? If not, how can I get
the files to install?

If the download is corrupt, is there a way to download the files
separately and install them?

Thanks very much in advance for your help.

Did you go through the process of installing the VS help files immediately
after installing VS 2005 itself? After the installation of VS 2005
completed, there should have been an additional dialog inviting you to
install the documentation and recommending that you do a full install to
your hard drive. Did you do all that? The last step in the installation
install should have merged the MSDN Help in VS.
If you didn't do the above, search for a directory on the DVD with a name
like MSDN and look for an installer.

Thanks for the reply. I thought I had installed it; if I was
prompted to do so, I would have. It's possible that I wasn't
prompted and just assumed it was installed.

There is an "msdn" directory on the DVD. If I try to install
directly from there (running either msdn.msi or setup.exe), I see
the same thing I see if I choose the documentation option from
the main menu, right up to the prompt to install the Visual
Studio 2005 DVD.

So I'm still stuck....
