Hi, when I add a new team project in TFS, then click on source control, right
clicking on the project name in team explorer, I have not the option "new
folder". I click on File>source control, I see that "New folder option is
greyed out".
I am trying to follow some videos available of ms web site at
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/teamsystem/bb851705.aspx

Hello Eliassal,

From your description, you met some problem when try creating new source
control folder in TFS, correct?

Regarding on this issue, based on my experience, it is probably due to a
permission issue. If you do not have the correct permission set(TFS
specific permission rather than WINDOWS OS permission), those operations
may not available to you. Here are some document reference you can check:

#Team Foundation Source Control Permissions
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms181760(VS.80).aspx

#Viewing and Changing Permissions
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms253048(VS.80).aspx

#Team Foundation Server Permissions
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms252587(VS.80).aspx

You can have a look to see whether your current logon user have the
permission. If not,, you may try contacting the TFS server admin to grant
you the sufficient ones.

Sincerely,

Steven Cheng

Hello Eliassal,

I agree with Steven. It could be due to a permission issue.
As Steven's suggestion, have you checked the permission of user account?
Does the issue still persist?
Please let me know if you face any further issue or there is anything
unclear. We will follow up. It's my pleasure to assist you.

Have a great day,

Hi,
My dev machine wher I open VS 2005 is a win2k3 and TFS resides another W2k3
box where SQL 2005 is. I have no domain, they are stand alone machine
On dev machine, I pen the session with "Administrator", on the TFS machine I
open the session with a user whois in "Administrator's group.

Do you ean I should explicitly grant rights in the tool provided with TFS on
each project even for those users.

Thanks in advance

Hello Eliassal,
Thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure what do you mean by the "Administrators groups".
Is it a "Windows User Group on local machine" or "Team Foundation Server
Group"?

Team Foundation Administrators Group is different from the Windows
Administrators Group. TFS will check permission by its own Database. A user
has the "Administrator" permission on the local machine doesn't means he
has the power to access the TFS.
We have to explicitly grant the "Team Foundation Administrators" for the
user in TFS.
Please following the steps as below to add the user in "TFS Administrators
Groups".

[How to: Set Administrator Permissions for Team Foundation Server]

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you face any further issue or there
is anything unclear. It's my pleasure to assist you.
