visual studio .net ide : VS.Net IDE changes HTML

How can I get VS.Net to stop butchering my html? I have
turned off the automatic formatting but that doesn't do
anything.

What is the sense in being able to switch back and forth
if it doesn't retain your code. Where does it get off
rewriting it and sticking in stupid <TBODY> tags any
way? And, it makes line breaks before closing ">"
characters. This is crazy.

I wouldn't use this tool at all if I wasn't interested in
learning MCMS. But, I have no choice if I want to get
into content management.

They have to fix this.

Does anyone have the answer? Microsoft can't possibly
expect you to do all your coding in the design view

Are you modifying the code while you are running in debug mode? For
some reason ( = bug, in my sense), the ways the IDE "butcher" the code
in normal (non running) and running (debug/release) are different.
When you do it in normal mode, the "butchering" is fine, try it out.
When you are working on the html, which means you probably don't have
to do it in debug mode. You can just open a browser and type in the
url, refresh the page when you have made changes in the IDE

A similar problem was discussed in this NG starting in mid-July.
Look for subject "BUG: - <DT></DT> <DD></DD>". The discussion
ended with a MSFT stating that this problem isn't important enough
to warrant fixing. Too likely to cause other bugs. I guess they're
doing us a favor, then?

I feel your pain.

Thanks John. I guess the best we can hope for is a fix
in the next version. Although that doesn't look too
likely considering how "deep" the code is.

<IMHO>There's something deep, all right, but I don't think it's the code.
Put yer boots on when you open your web project...</IMHO>
