Hi,

I have recently moved back to a desktop PC and off my laptop. because of
this i have bought a new PC that comes with Service pack 2 already
installed.

Now the issue i am having is the following.

If i open a asp.net project that is managed from within source safe and
vs.net i get the following error

"Access is denied" when i try and save a file. Now the file has been checked
out of a source safe and shows checked out in vs.net however i still cant
write to this file. Also checked to make sure the "Read Only" attribute is
not checked. yes still i recieve the error from time to time.

This is a intermittent problem as sometimes i can save the file successfully
and sometimes i cannot.

I can access and change the file without any issues at all through notepad.
Only get these issues when using vs.net 2003.

Other things that are happening are when i try and add a new file to the
project i recieve the same "access is denied" error.

Everything was working fine on my laptop with the same security settings on
the server and me being in the local administrator group, as well as the
domains admin group. So what would a new installed on a pc be doing? Could
this be a Service pack 2 issue as i didnt not have service pack 2 on my
laptop?

The desktop is windows xp, vs.net 2003
server is windows 2003 iis 6 etc

So is this a vs.net issue? source safe issue? or Service Pack 2?

Any information you can give me would be fantastic as otherwise i might have
to reinstall and hope for better luck with a new installl without service
pack 2.

regards
Darren

FOUND IT!!!!

The culprite wasnt VSS or SP2 OR VS.NET

It was macafree virus protection. If i disable that then everything works
fine...

So looks like i have to uninstall macafree and try another virus protection
app.

This was a common issue under VC6; as far as I remember it stopped when I
moved to VC 2003, but that might have been a coincidence. Norton used to
trigger it anyway a few years back... I have no problems these days with AVG
at home, nor Sophos at work, as far as this problem goes.
