visual studio .net ide : Synchronize button on the Settings tab

I'm trying to get the Synchronize button to "reset" the application User
settings. However, when I press the button I get a dialog box that says: "No
user.config files were found in any of the following locations:" (and there
were no locations listed").

Otherwise the settings work just fine at runtime and can be altered/saved by
the application. I just can't seem to "reset" the settings with the
Synchronize button.

Any suggestions?

Hi Michael,

[quoted text, click to view]

The "Synchronize" button is used to remove the runtime-generated,
application-specific user.config files from the disk. If your application
doesn't have any user-scoped application settings(that means all the
application settings' scope are "Application"), then there would not have a
user.config file for the VS2005 IDE to delete after run-time.

Thanks!

Gary,

All my settings are User scoped. There are at least 10 User scoped settings.
When I click the Synchronize button, VS 2005 can't seem to find the
user.config file to delete. There was another user who posted somewhere on
MSDN with the identical problem (he never got any responses).

Hi Michael,

[quoted text, click to view]

In this scenario, could you find that corresponding user.config file after
the execution of your application, any which directory it exists?

Thanks!

Yes. In fact it can be found in 2 mysteriously named directories.

That's strange, would you please tell me which directory your user.config
files existed?

Thanks!
