visual studio .net ide: Is it possible to change the directory used for storing macros in VS2005?

At present I can see that the macros are being stored in My Documents\Visual
Studio 2005\Projects\VSMacros80, but I would like to put them somewhere
else. I've not been able to find a setting that allows me to control this
however. Is there any way this can be done?

TIA,

This is a VB "classic" newsgroup. Questions about VB.NET (including VB 2005
and VB Express, which have dropped .NET from their names) are off-topic
here.

Please ask .NET questions in newsgroups with "dotnet" in their names. The
*.vb.* groups are for VB6 and earlier. If you don't see the *.dotnet.*
groups on your news server, connect directly to the Microsoft server:
msnews.microsoft.com.

For questions specific to the VB.NET language, use this group:
microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.vb

Please note that things like controls and data access, which have their own
subgroups in the Classic VB hierarchy, are not language-specific in .NET, so
you should look for groups like these:
microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.windowsforms.controls
microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.adonet
(Note that "vb" is not present in the group name.)

WHOOPS!! Sorry about that. I was reading the "Multiple Programmers..."
thread and thought I was in the VB6 group.

Anyways, as to the question, I see some values under the registry keys

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\vsmacros\RecordingProject7

and

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\vsmacros\OtherProjects7\0

Perhaps fiddling with them would change something.

I was a bit surprised with your message, I was sure that the vsnet groups
were for .NET questions! :) Although there's so much inconsistency between
the different newsgroup names that it's easy to get them muddled up...

I'll take a look and see if they have any effect -- thanks for the pointer.
I was hoping for something a bit more integrated into the IDE than hacking
the registry, but if that's the only way to do it then it's better than
nothing...

Thanks and regards,
