Outlining help PLEASE

Outlining help PLEASE Ross Presser

visual studio .net ide: I posted once about this before, but nobody responded. At the time I
was using VB.NET 2005 Express; now I'm using VS.NET 2005 Standard (it
is a full version, but I have only installed VB.NET, C#, and Visual
Web Developer).

When I use VS.NET 2003 I am accustomed to using control-M control-H to
arbitrarily hide any selected bit of code, in any type of file. But
in VS.NET 2005, no matter what I do, I get "that command is not
available now." The documentation, both local and MSDN, clearly talks
about the feature still existing; but it's never available here. What
am I doing wrong?

#regions are nice, but when you need to see both above and below a
long For Each-Next loop, nothing beats being able to Outline/Hide
Selection it. Why is it missing?

If you go to Tools, Customize, select Edit Toolbar, click Commands Tab, and
scroll to Outline Hide Selection, it is still there, but it does not appear
anywhere. Nor can you drag it as suggested (X appears when you drag).

I never tried to use it in VS2005 before, but after looking as you have, it
does not appear that it exists in VS2005. I know it is helpful, and #regions
do not do the job, but it appears that we are out of luck, unless someone
with more knowledge than I have answers the question.

Sorry I can't do anything but confirm your post.
