visual studio .net setup : VS .NET 2002 Component Installation

This post is proof that Microsoft is a monopoly; a company
that is not a monopoly could not be this inept and be
profitable. The behavior I've seen in this post is so
insane that I believe I've died and gone to hell.

I can't install VS .NET 2002 because I can't get past the
component installation. I can't get past the component
installation because Microsoft FrontPage Client
("WCU\weccom.msi" on the VS .NET CD) won't install.
Microsoft FrontPage Client won't install because it
requires the "Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 CD".
Why? I don't even have a Service Pack 1 CD. I've burned
the extracted version I installed on CD, but it doesn't
like it. Of course, it doesn't tell me WHY it doesn't
like it, so I'm left stabbing in the dark.

This is a clean installation of Windows XP that didn't
even have Service Pack 1 installed of a CD. Why is it
asking for one now? I can't even download this off
Microsoft's site! How am I supposed to get my hands on
this? Way to go, Microsoft!

To any MSoft developers out there: Would you stop fixing
the locations of shit like this? If not that, at least
display where it's looking and what it's looking for?
I've lost 6 hours of work because you couldn't put in an
optional location for the Service Pack CD or at LEAST list
what the hell it's looking for. Inept, insane, and
assanine... the Microsoft way.

The extracted and burnt XPSP1 CD will not work. There are various reasons
why it would not work which include secutiry, piracy issues and licencing
issues.
Please try to insert the original and legal source CD of the OS. it should
work.
