visual studio .net setup: I just purchased the book Microsoft Visual Basic.NET step
by step author Michael Halvorson pay $128.00

Installed the MSDN Library successfully, however the
VB.NET IDE environment is no where to be found, the book
Included Visual Basic .NET standard.

Your original post suggests that you did not go through the installation of
Visual Basic itself, which comes on separate media than the MSDN library.

* What happens if you search your machine for devenv.exe... where is it
found, if it is?
* is Microsoft Visual Basic .NET STD listed in your Add/Remove Programs?

If installed correctly, you should be able to fire up the IDE by going to
Start | (All) Programs --> Microsoft Visual Studio .NET (2003) -->
Microsoft Visual Studio .NET (2003)
