VB.Net install failure - help Mim

visual studio .net setup: I've tried installing VB.Net 2003 standard on Win XP (with SR2). When I put
in the prerequisite disk as requested, I get the installshield for
hydravision (in spanish). I've removed hydravision, run norton to clean up
the registry, run checkdisk to clean up any x-linked files and the same thing
happens. If I accept the install, I can't progress further with the visual
basic .net installation, and neither can I progress if I cancel the install
of hydravision.

Any help appreciated. (Hope I haven't just paid big bucks for a non-working

It's okay now, I followed someone's suggestion in another thread to avoid the
need to load the prerequisites (can't remember, but anyone else who has a
problem like this wierd one, can probably find the solution by doing a search
in this thread).

Given the number of people who have this problem, must be a bug in the setup
files. Hopefully will be fixed in future updates.

Don't know when this thread started, but...

This fix was posted for a similar problem and may well work for you.
<quote>
Seems that Windows is running what is defined in App Paths for "setup.exe"
Judging by the error that you are getting, Windows is running
<system32>\setup.exe instead of the setup.exe from the CD.

Open regedit and navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App
Paths\Setup.exe

Double click on the default value and clear the value data. It should now
be blank. This should clear up your problem and allow you to install VS.

Hope this helps.
