group:VS.Net 2003 Installer to Add/Remove/Repair shows MSI commandline dialog
visual studio .net setup:
When I try to access the VS.Net 2003 installer from Control Panel or
directly from the CD image, and click on the Visual Stuio.Net link (second one from top), I get a Windows Installer dialog with the commandline parameters expained (as if I had typed msixxx.exe /?). This is XP SP2 with VS.Net 2002 removed. File associations still work by the way. I need to repair my VS.Net 2003 installation and cannot do so. Any help appreciated. This is a notebook, so space is at a premium and if I need to take the manual route using MSIZap.exe, I would appreciate a direct link rather than having to install the

If that doesn't work, then you would need to manually uninstall and then reinstall the VSNet product. If that comes to pass, I have attached a document that should assist you in doing this. Still get the MSI commandline parameters dialog. Looks like I get to do the long way (sigh). I can't wait to see what this does to all my Add-ins (Together, Deklarit, etc.).

Why? Because WinXP SP2 has seen many cases where an MSI 2.0 installer was run after MSI 3 was installed, and it left the following key full (wipe the Default value if there is anything in it to solve your problems): HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/App Paths/Setup.exe/{Default} You do not need to restart. I had already uninstalled VS.Net 2003 with the Cube Note/KB article, so I am now uninstalling and re-installing all my add-ins after a successful re-install of VS.Net 2003.
