visual studio .net setup : Install path forced to C: drive

I have VS.Net 1.0.3705 (March 2002) and have tried to install it. After
installing the component updates it is fixated on putting VS.Net on to the
C: drive but I want to locate it on another drive where I have more disk
space. I noticed KB article Q311855 but I don't actually have a former
version so that doesn't help me.

How do I change the installation path?

David,

I noticed this behavoir as well under two conditions

1. I had uninstalled VS and there was still a directory from the install. I deleted the entire VS directory and tried again and it let me change it.

2. If you start selecting the options out (uncheck C# or C++) it seems to lock you into the c: drive for some reason.

Regards,
Davids
