visual studio .net setup : Starting VS.NET 2003 also starts Windows Installer

All

When I start VS.NET 2003 (EA) it starts a session of the Windows Installer that says "Please wait while Windows configures MSDN Library for Visual Studio .NET 2003". The installer runs without asking any questions for about 2 minutes then the VS start page is presented. If I cancel the Windows Installer, the VS start page is presented as if I waited for the installer to finish.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled at least five times to try to correct the problem. Does anyone out there know why this is happening. I've installed on other computers in the office but haven't had the same problem. Running Windows XP pro with lots of memory and disk

THanks

Copied from another post: This worked for me VS . Net 2003 and Office 200

It's basically the same problem as it was in VS .Net 2002, just go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Office1
and delete (or rename if your worried) mso.dl

Run visual studio, the installer kicks in again, and replaces mso.dll with the correct/error free version (i dont know how it differed, it may have been wrong version or HD corruption

Next time you run VS, it shouldn't bring up the installer again

This worked for me anyway
