visual studio .net setup:
I am trying to setup VSS on a master server to allow team development of an
ASP.NET web site with Visual Studio .NET

These are the steps i've followed so far:-

1. Installed VSS on MASTER server.
2. Shared the VSS folder on the MASTER server and run the NETSETUP on a
development workstation (DEV)
3. Installed VS.NET on DEV
4. Created a new blank solution in VS and saved it locally on DEV.
5. Added a new ASP.NET Web Application project to the solution, and set its
location to http://MASTER/NewApp
6. Added the Solution to Source Control via VS. Called the Project VSProj
under $/
7. Closed the solution in VS.
8. Deleted the local saved copy of VS Solution (under My Docs/Visual Studio
Projects)
9. In VS, Open Project from Source Control. Browse to $/,VSProj,VSProj.
10. Saved the VS Project to a local folder (again under My Docs/Visual
Studio Projects)
11. On the Project Location screen, i entered the working copy location as
the default localhost option (i.e. http://localhost/NewApp)

This all seems to work fine. A new web site is automatically created for me
on my DEV machine with the files from VSS, and i can checkout and checkin
files no problem via VS.NET.

However, any amendments i make and new files that i add to the project do
get entered into the VSS database, but not to the root of the MASTER server
(i.e. c:\inetpub\wwwroot\NewApp).

Is there anyway i can set it up so that when i checkout a file it appears
on my DEV machine locally, but as soon as i check it back in, it gets
pushed back into VSS and the MASTER server? (much like VI used to do when
working in local mode). That way i can do my development and testing
locally, and only checkin files back to the MASTER server once i'm happy.

I also want to lock down the c:\inetpub\wwwroot directories so that no one
can simply copy and paste files there. Anyone know which users will require
access so that i can set the folder up to only allow them access (i.e. VS
Developers)?

Thanks in advance

Not very active these newsgroups, are they?!

I've found a solution to my issue here:-
