I have a machine that I successfully install Visual Studio .Net 2003. I installed .Net Framework 1.1. I received an error the next time I opened Visual Studio .Net. So I re-installed the product. At the end of the installation I receive a message "The product is not isntalled properly. Please re-install." I have installed, uninstalled VS .Net and Framework. I've run thru every KB I could find. I've spent a week on this and still can not get it installed properly Any ideas are greatly appreciated Daw
Hi Will Thankyou for taking the time to help. I didn't find the log file in the temp directory. I found it in \program files\microsoft visual studio .net 2003\visual studio .net enterprise architect 2003 - English\logs. However the file is 5 meg. Is this the right file? Then in the temp folder, look for the most recent log that starts with VSMSI***.LOG where **** will be a random number/letter combination. Could you please post that log to the newsgroup Thanks Will Buffingto Microsoft Developer Suppor
Hi Again, After the installation fails I can still bring up the ide and open a project however I receive this error "Visual Studio .NET cannot create or open the application. The likeliest problem is that required commponents are not installed on the local Web server. Run Visual Studio .NET setup and add the Web Development component." I hope that this helps. ----- Dawn wrote: ----- Hi Will, Thankyou for taking the time to help. I didn't find the log file in the temp directory. Hi Dawn, I apologize for not responding back sooner. Go ahead and open that log file and at the top of the log, click on Edit, Find and look for the word "DisableRollback" (without the quotes). Keep hitting FIND NEXT until it doesn't find any more in the log. Once you've found the last instance of DisableRollback in the log file copy and paste about 20 lines before and 20 lines after it. If you would, paste it into a reply and that should help me figure out what's going on. Will Buffington Microsoft Developer Support
