visual studio .net setup: Hi All,

I want to install Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 Enterprise Developer. 19 CDs were delivered to me. Out of them there are 2 dics named Disc1 and Disc2. Can anybody guide me as to how I should go about with the installation. How long will it take for the installation?

Is the source of your VS.NET 2003 a retail package? There should be some
basic guidance included.
If the two CD's you describe are labeled Visual Studio .NET 2003 CD #1 and
CD #2, try inserting #1 into your drive. It should auto start and allow you
to begin the installation. It will almost certainly want the Prerequisites
CD first, install needed prerequisites, then have you reinsert CD #1 to
begin actual VS installation. From there, the installer should guide you
through the rest of the process.
Depending on which optional parts you install, I'd allow a couple of hours
for a complete installation.

The standard sequence for the Installation of Visual Studio .NET 2003 is as
follows:

1. Insert Visual Studio .NET 2003 Disk 1
2. Click the first link to install Prerequisites
3. Insert Prerequisites Disk as directed
4. Once Prerequisites Installation is complete, the main setup selection
screen will be presented again
5. Click the second link to install Visual Studio
6. Setup will take you through some checks to make sure you meet
requirements.
7. Enter Product Key and choose the components you wish to install (or use
default settings)
8. Setup will take about 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending upon the speed
of your computer (some older computers take up to 2-3 hours, if they are
only meeting minimum specifications)
9. Setup will complete and you will again be presented with the main setup
selection screen
10. Click the 3rd link to install the MSDN Library for Visual Studio .NET
2003
11. MSDN setup will allow you to choose from different installation types
12. When setup is complete, you will see the main setup selection screen
13. Click the 4th link, which will check for product updates (there are
currently no updates, but a service pack is expected, soon)

The product also ships with Server Disks and Visual SourceSafe. These are
not required for the Installation to be functional. I recommend you read
the Product Documentation to see if you need to install any of the
additional products.
