visual studio .net setup:
Hi all,
I've installed VS2005 (release candidate) on a workstation that has other
versions of visual studio installed. Everything I've tried so far works just
fine, except for XML color coding. The actual color rendering is nowhere
close to the default settings in Tools | Options | Fonts & Colors for XML
items, and if I change the color settings, the actual colors used are not
changed. I'm assuming that I have an older or multiple versions of the
assembly or dll that manages XML color coding, but I'm not sure what to look
for. XML color rendering in Internet Explorer works just fine.
Any assistence is appreciated!

I have a similar problem with the VS2005 RTM (from the DVD ISO on MSDN). A
couple of property pages on Tools->Options->Text Editors->XML report
"property page failed to load." I, too, would appreciate any
troubleshooting assistance.

I was able to resolve this problem myself; hopefully this can help others...

Carefully examine the .dll files (assemblies) in C:\WINDOWS\assembly, and
uninstall dups that belong to prior beta/ctp installs. You'll have to right
click to get the exact build number, and don't uninstall 1.0/1.1 stuff. I
don't know which ones specifically resolved my problem, but now XML
viewing/editing works fine for me now.
