I've installed the vs2005 Beta 2 on my system, and I've tried to run the
Java Conversion Language Assistance on a small file.
I received this error message:

An exception occurred during the conversion: Retrieving the COM class
factory for component with CLSID {67A08606-6C8A-4A28-BE86-BF06D0B57252}
failed with HRESULT: 0x800736b1 (HRESULT 0x800736B1 This application has
failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.
Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.).

I've uninstalled VS2005 Beta 2, reinstalled it, and receive the same
message - what should I be looking for?

Perhaps you should be looking for the forums dedicated to the beta?
If you don't get any good responses here, consider:

I had the same problem. Solution: go to the directory
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\JavaLanguageConversionAssistant
and delete/rename/move the file

VJU.exe.manifest

(basically, get rid of it
