Service Release Error -- visual studio .net setup

I have just finished installing Visual Studio.NET Professional;
I am at the 3rd part = Service Release
*When I click on the Check for Service releases on the internet*
I receive this error *
Visual Studio .NET setup encountered errors while attempting to download
required files. Check your web browser configuration settings and your
connection hardware, and then try again.*

It's a known issue, but not of critical importance as there are no service
releases for Visual Studio .NET 2003.
You may, however, want to install available updates for the .NET Framework
v1.1.
