Hi Graham,

I too am having the same problem. I've downloaded the ISO twice and
neither Nero 6.6 nor IsoBuster could decipher the image. Since we both
are experiencing the same problem I think it is very unlikely that it is
something we did.

Has anyone successfully downloaded and installed the VS 2005
Professional Beta 2 ISO image from MSDN?

Paul

Hi,
I have twice downloaded VS2005 pro beta2 as posted on May 18. Each time I
got the same CRC305 (0x9FABB7CE)). It copies to DVD ok using Nero Express (as
I have done with previous versions) but Windows XP cannot open the DVD.
Similarly, when I mount the iso image using IsoBuster or VCdControlToo, the
drive cannot be opened. It appears I am missing something. Can anyone help
please.
Kind Regards Graham

I've downloaded it and I was able to extract the files using WinISO.
However, it failed to install on my Dell Laptop running WinXP; it installed
on my desktop ok. The desktop had beta installed on it and the uninstall did
not completely uninstall all the beta 1 files. I had to manually edit the
registry to get rid of all the registry entries.

I was corresponding with another group at MS today and I mentioned the
problem with the ISO. My contact was going to contact the group
responsible for the ISO image and tell them of the problem. Hopefully
this will be resolved soon. I'll let you know when I hear more.

I was unable to open the image with WinISO. I have also attempted to open the
file with ISOBuster and mount it with Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. I did a
binary file comparison on the two files I downloaded and no differences were

Hi,

I'm glad to hear that you were able to recover the image, but that's my
point. Why should I have to use a third party application in order to
make the ISO image usable? Three of us were not able to read the ISO
image as is, therefore it is broke and MS needs to fix it.

Microsoft: Do you have any plans on redoing the Beta 2 ISO image?

Ditto on all of the above. I've downloaded two images... compared them using
comp.exe /D (identical). Tried to write using Nero and others. Tried to
read iso image using programs (Extract Now, Sateria, Secret Record)... none
worked. Must be a problem with the image.

Good News.

I just got an email from my contact at MS. The technical support group
at MSDN are aware of the ISO problem and are busy resolving it. A new
image should be available later this week.

I just paid for WinISO and it did "not" work on this IOS image. I will just
have to wait for the new posting. I notice we all downloaded the file twice.
It would be a good idea if Microsoft posted the CRC305 so we could have some
confidence in the first download. I suspect that the file downloader detects
and corrects errors. Is this true?

I believe the post about WinISO opening the image was referring to the
Standard edition "en_vs_2005_std_dvd_beta2.iso" file, not the Professional
edition. Unfortunately the title of the original message may be cut off to
some people viewing these posts.

I have requested the DVD version as it does not appear that the download
will be fixed any time soon. (unless of course this really is a problem with
every one of our downloads...)

Hi Everyone,

The new image is available at MSDN. It arrived yesterday afternoon. I
downloaded it last night - took nearly 20 hours, downloads were really
slow yesterday (45 KB/sec). Today I burned it to a DVD and I loaded the
readme html. Although I haven't installed it yet, I think this one is
usable.

Good luck and enjoy the weekend.
