Hello Diet er,
This problem should be caused by the corrupted registry after you removed
or reinstalled ActiveSync. KB813579 provides more information and
resolution on this problem, please reference at:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=813579

In the kb above, it provides a way to update the registry, and if you don't
have a computer which is ok to export the reg, You can download the Windows
CE Utilities at:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7ec99ca6-2095-4086-
b0cc-7c6c39b28762&displaylang=en
and import the reg file provided by this untilities. You can find it from
"\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\CompactFrameworkSDK\WinCE
Utilities\WinCE Proxy Ports Reg" after install the utilities.

Please let me know if my answer helps you resolve the problem. If there is
anything more I can assist you, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks,

Could you let me knwo what your OS and sp level is? If you are using XP /
XP sp2, could you help to check if there has /pae option setted in the
boot.ini file?
To see if the /pae option is set or not, please follow these steps:
1>Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl , and then click OK.
2>In the System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
3>Under Start and Recovery, click Settings.
4>In the Startup and Recovery dialog box, click Edit.
Then you should see the content of boot.ini

Hello Rhett,

thanks for your response, sorry i had to leave town for a few days.

First the answer to your OS is win XP Professionell SP2 out of the
MSDN Subscription DVD.

The fix you the proposed i had already found in the MS Help
articles.

Following is in the boot ini file :

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

Regards Dieter
