Hi,

I'm using Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Architect (version 2002) now in
my PC. A few days ago I found the Debug->Start function was not working
.. Whenever I called this function, on any of my projects VS Studio .NET
just hang there (but I work still work with my XP machine on other
applications). Debug->Start Without Debugging function still worked
normal.

I tried to uninstall the software from didn't via Add/Delete
applications function from XP control panel. It listed me two Studio
..NET related applications and they are 1) Microsoft .NET Framework
(English) v1.0.3705 & 2) Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Enterprise
Architect - English

I had tried to uninstall 1) & 2) twice but each time I only got status
bar telling me process was in progress even after 1 hour the process
got started. So each time I needed to press Alt-Ctrl-Del to stop the
"hanging" process. Every force interruption caused XP to report serious
error.

Sample messages reported for 1) were

Wrong signature
szAppName : Install.exe szAppVer : 1.0.3705.0 szModName : hangapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000

Error report also pointed out below files:

D:\DOCUME~1\peepxyz\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1C.tmp.dir00\Install.exe.mdmp
D:\DOCUME~1\peepxyz\LOCALS~1\Temp\WRE1C.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt

Sample messages reported for 2) were

Wrong signature
szAppName : devenv.exe szAppVer : 7.0.9466.0 szModName : hangapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000

Error report also pointed out below files:

D:\DOCUME~1\peepxyz\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER5.tmp.dir01\devenv.exe.mdmp
D:\DOCUME~1\peepxyz\LOCALS~1\Temp\WRE5.tmp.dir01\appcompat.txt

After that, I found Visual Studio .NET was not deleted at all and
Debug->Start function still couldn't function although I could still
use Debug->Start Without Debugging function.

Couldn't someone tell me how could I fix this problem ?

The problem got solved partially after I uninstall & then re-install my
norton internet security 2005.

Yet, the Debug->Start function still didn't go smooth. After I called
it, Visual Studio .NET seemed stopped at somewhere. After I I choosed
Debug->Restart menu option, debugging always moved to Private Sub New
of main Form used by the program. I need to choosed Debug->Continue
menu option to make debugging really kick off.

I don't know why this strange scenario happened. Could anyone make any
suggestion to fix this problem ?
