visual studio .net setup : Uninstall VS.NET Academic 2003

When attempting to uninstall VS.NET Academic 2003 I enter setup successfully,
click on the "Repair, reinstall... " link, then get the following error
message;

Mismatched quote in properties list: Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET
2003\Setup\Visual Studio .NET Academic 2003 - English\" /HWND="721274"

Just to make things a bit more confusing, the message box heading for the
error is;

Microsoft Access 2000 Runtime Setup

Can anyone help?

What I am trying to do is install VisualBasic.NET 2003 Standard, but I
thought getting rid of old versions first would be a cautious move.

Thanks Peter,

I got up to the part where it says to run
msizap TP {Product Code}

But the article does not give a product code for VS.NET Academic 2003

Is there any way I can find out what this is?

(I have been looking at KB articles all day, formatting the HD is
starting to look like the easier option)

Although there may be a more elegant way, you can follow the steps in this
article for manual removal:

I see what you mean :(
You might try the Professional code and see what happens, or contact
Microsoft support by phone and ask. You do get two free support incidents
with the (commercial) Academic Edition.
