Hi,

I am using Visual studio 2003 Enterprise. I notice that the Server explorer
has Crystal Services. If you expand this, it has a node for Crystal
Enterprises & Server files. I haven't installed Crystal reports on my system
but would like to use it.

Is Crystal Reports bundled with Visual studio or is that just so you can
integrate it into the IDE *IF* you have Crytal reports running on your system.

Sorry for the simple question but i don't know how to find this out.

Thanks for any help with this

A limited capability of Crystal Reports is bundled with Visual Studio. You
can add report objects to your solutions and invoke reports using a control
available in the toolbox. If you search your MSDN Help, you'll find a lot of
info on CR.

I have used Crystal Reports in VS 2003. Overall, it got all the
necessary elements to produce a good report, including formulas (Basic
Syntax). The only thing which lacks in VS 2003 is the design interface
for CR. I also used Crystal Reports XI and it got additional features
like Crystal Syntax and Basic Syntax for formulas.

To add Crystal Report to you VS project: In your VS IDE do this:
File -- Add New Item:

Project Items and from right pane, find and select CrystalReport.

This should add CrystalReport1.rpt to your project. When you'll open
this, it will give you an environment to design the report.

Hope this would be good 2 u :)
