Installing VS .NET 2003 SP1 changes .txt file type to SQL Trigger Script file

Installing VS .NET 2003 SP1 changes .txt file type to SQL Trigger Script file JWilliams

visual studio .net setup: After installing Visual Studio .NET 2003 Service Pack 1 on two machines
(both Windows XP Pro), Windows Explorer showed text files (.txt extension)
as file type 'SQL Trigger Script file' and they open with VS .NET 2003.

A small annoyance that was easy to fix by right-clicking on a .txt file and
clicking Choose Program... Notepad and ticking the 'Always use the selected
program'. box.

Hope this is useful to someone!

I had a similar problem, though my .txt files became type libraries... other
strange issues too, quite surprising really.

Another problem was that the right-click context menu - New - Text Document
had changed to SQL Trigger Script file.

Fixed by applying the .txt file association fix from
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

Why do MS release software which messes up file associations like this?
I've never known them to do it before.
