visual studio .net setup: I know that VS 2005 Installs something called "SQL Server Express" as part of
its installation. I will be installing "SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition" on
the same machine for development purposes.

- If I'm going to do that anyway, do I need the "SQL Express Edition" that
VS installs? Can I *not* install that as part of the VS installation?

- Should I install "SQL Server Standard" *before* I install VS or *after*?

Hi Alex,

If you plan to install the SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on your
machine, then you don't need to install the Visual Studio 2005's SQL
Express Edition again. Just unselect that SQL Server Express Edition
component when you customize the installation of the VS2005(Select Custom
mode in the VS2005's installation).

It doesn't matter, I suggest you can install the VS2005 first, then the SQL
Server 2005 Standard Edition.

Good Luck!

Thanks!
