visual studio .net setup:
Hi All ! I would like just to get the chance to see, how to develop an Outlook add-in with VS.Net2005. I just downloaded the en_office_2003_VSTO.iso file, but if I start the setup, I'll get only the message [~similar]: "Setup cannot detect the required version of Visual Studio .Net on this computer. Before you install this product, you must install a matching regional language version of Visual Studio .Net 2003 or Visual Basic .Net 2003 Standard" [Silly messagebox:The text cannot be copied by ctrl-c ... !! :-( ] I am running "Windows 2003 Server R2 x64 Edition", en, "Outlook 2003", en, "Visual Studio .Net 2005". I even checked to set my language while setup from German to English, but this does not help. Can someone give me a tip/hint, what's wrong here?? VS has no Office related project templates. Thanks and best regards,
Hi ! Not to understand, why there are different versions and what my "original" attempted one was really ..... I finally found the right one, so it looks. But is is/was something like a nightmare. I had additionally to install the whole Office package, add the SP1, ... uff. Finally, what remains is: Office Dependency Warning You have successfully installed Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System but do not have the necessary Office components installed to create a Microsoft Office 2003 project. To create a Microsoft Office 2003 project, you must install an edition of Micosoft Office 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) that supports Visual Studio Tools for Office, as well as the necessary Office 2003 primary interop assemblies. The following primary interop assemblies are missing from your computer: Graph. I am right to think, that there is everything ok but something with Graph? In this case, I can live with it. The Office Templates are there! Hi All ! Was my message read by someone at MS ?? I asked this via a registered MSDN-Universal account, which should get support within some time. I saw this NOT working for several other attempts also, so my question. It's a bit annoying :-( Thanks and best regards, Manfred [quoted text, click to view] Manfred Braun wrote: > Hi All ! > > I would like just to get the chance to see, how to develop an Outlook add-in > with VS.Net2005. Did you follow the procedures here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups/managed/ to register your alias? If not, you need to do that so the Microsoft folks monitor your posts. If you did that, it's possible that they saw you answer your own question within 12 hours, and did not think an additional reply to indicate that you need to use VSTO 2005 with VS 2005 was necessary. If you're sure your alias is registered, and you're not getting any responses from Microsoft reps, you might want to enquire here: https://support.microsoft.com/common/survey.aspx?scid=sw;en;1296&showpage=1&ws=msdn&sd=msdn&pa=msdnw
Hello ! Thanks a lot! I had that problem always!!!!!! I followed your link and ask, how I am registered. There is not one place [so far I could found it], where my alias is listed. I KNOW, that I was registered and if I log in, I see my old threads [all without any response :-( ]. Do I have to create this alis each time, I log on? There is also another hint, that I can see my alias on the subscriber downloads. But it is not there, but my downloads are working fine. It could be really made easy! I agree it could be easier, but once you've registered an alias, all posts using that alias (posts made *after* the alias is registered) should be recognized and responded to by MS reps as long as your MSDN subscription is valid. In other words, no, you should not have to register the alias for each post.
I get a similar installation problem with VSTO2005, but related to Office 2003 SP1: I have installed VS2005 Professional and Office 2003 with SP2 on a machine, and the Office 2003 primary interop assemblies certainly work in VS2005 (when developing without using VSTO). Now I tried to install VSTO 2005 from an MSDN-ISO, but VSTO setup fails stating that Office 2003 with SP1 is not present (what is partly correct, as Office SP2 is installed). Are there any solutions to this issue (apart from completely reinstaling everything)? Best regards
Hi ! From my experience, you are using the wrong source! I was also using a downloaded .iso file, but this was about SOME MB, while the right setup has had several HUNDREDs, check this. This and settings up Office fully, solved the problem for me. Hope, this helps! Thank you for this hint.. I checked the source (it seems to be the correct one) and also did a full install of Office 2003 and VS2005Pro on another machine - but still I get the same error message. BTW: I am using a German localized version of all products involved. Could the problem be related to Office 2003 SP2??? What exactly does the VSTO install check for upon installtation? Hi ! Sorry, I don't know. I never install localized versions ;-) Best regards, Manfred [quoted text, click to view] Merlin wrote: > Thank you for this hint..
