Unable to display Server Explorer in VS2005 anuragsji
1/18/2007 7:37:59 PM
visual studio .net setup: Hello,

I have Visual Studio 2005 (version 8.0.52727.42) and SQL Server 2005
installed on my system.

Using coding I am able to communicate with SQL server database/tables
but I am Unable to see Server Explorer, I clicked on view menu ->
Server Explorer as well tried CTRL+ALT+S key combination.

Also In my ASP.NET Application , in 1 web form I dragged and dropped a
SqlDataSource and from SqlDataSource Tasks, I choosed Configure Data
Source and mentioned my server name and database name and checked with
Test connection button that connection is working but when I clicked
ok. It gives me Error message as "Object reference is not set to an
instance of object".

Is above 2 problems related to same cause??
What would be solution, please help.

Thanks,
Anurag

Are you using the express edition of VS? If so, server explorer isn't
included.

Hey Matt,

Thanks for reply. Perhaps this is not an express edition, however I am
not sure as nowhere is written. I do not have its box as installed from
company's intranet.

Also my friends are using same version and files and are able to see
and use Server Explorer. Isn't it some dll problem which couldn't
manage to register(its just my guess)
Thanks,
