Hello:

When I chose to apply VS 2005 SP1 using Windows Update, it failed.

I then downloaded the SP from Microsoft site and when I ran it, I got the
message, "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify
that the source exists and that you can access it."

This might mean that the patch can't find (or doesn't have permissions to)
the cached MSI for the original install. It'll be some oddly named MSI file
in <WindowsFolder>\Installer. Make sure that the SYSTEM account has full
access to this folder.

This is late reply but worth....

Work Around:
1) Start -> Programs -> Admin Tools -> Local Security Policy
2) Click on Software Restriction Policies
3) If it doesn't show anything, then, create new, otherwise, go to step 4.
4) Select "Enforcement" and press mouse right click, then, select
"Properties".
5) Select "All users except local administrators" & click OK.
6) Close the window & start installing the Visual Studio.

In order to do above exercise, you must login with administrator account.

ENJOY ........
