Error Installing VS Orcas Beta 1

Error Installing VS Orcas Beta 1 Greg Knierim

visual studio .net setup: I am running Vista Ultimate, with VS 2005 SP1 installed. I am trying to
install the Orcas Beta 1 release and get the following error:

[04/24/07,08:55:43] Microsoft .NET Framework v3.5: [2] Error code 87 for
this component means "The parameter is incorrect."

Should I just installing .NET FX 3.5 manually and try the installation again?

I'm seeing exactly the same error... does anyone have a fix for this? I don't see any way to manually load the 3.5 framework

Yea, I tried installing the 3.5 framework manually and got another error
along the same lines and another one concerning the .NET Framework 2.0 SP1
(which I am assuming is supposed to be the Compact Framework since 2.0 SP1
isn't out yet).

Did you, by any chance, have an Orcas CTP installed? If so, did you do a
complete uninstall of the CTP and all associated components before trying to
install Beta 1?

Nope, I didn't have any CTP or BETA components installed for any version of
VS or Framework.

Does your INSTALL FROM path have a space in it? Mine did and once removed,
the install worked. There is a known issue supposedly (to who I don't know)
on Vista that the Framework 2.0 SP1 or 3.0 SP1 may fail to install if the
path contains a space.

I had exactly the same problem.

I also had a space in my path (where the installation image source files
were located). I moved the installation image files to
c:\OrcasInstallation\InstallationImage (with no spaces in the path), and it
worked.
