I have Vista Enterprise with Office, sql server 2000 and sql server 2005 on a
Toshiba Tecra notebook. When installing VS Orcas Beta 1 I'm getting an error
installing .Net Framework 3.5:

[04/26/07,08:02:56] Microsoft .NET Framework v3.5: ***ERRORLOG EVENT*** :
Error code 1603 for this component means "Fatal error during installation.

Does your INSTALL FROM path have a space in it? Mine did and once removed,
the install worked. There is a known issue supposedly (to who I don't know)
on Vista that the Framework 2.0 SP1 or 3.0 SP1 may fail to install if the
path contains a space.

Where can I find the INSTALL FROM path? I have a text file
"dd_NET_Framework_MSI295F.txt" with this installpath property in it.

NetFX3.5InstallPath_x86.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A1BB8 =
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5.20404\

Your install path is where you are installing orcas from...i.e. c:\temp d:\
e:\

My guess is that you have it in a directory on a cd or hard drive such as

c:\temp\vs orcas beta\ which has a space in it.
