Hi

Thanks for your reply

Actually it's not really my production machine, but my second machine where
I test always things out. But yeah I dont want to reinstall Windows if there
is a easier solution to this problem.

Yes I've uninstalled Orca and all of its components first, as that did not
work, I've uninstalled and reinstalled all VS 2005-components too...

Hello

I am developing for Mobile Devices with VS 2005. Now I've had installed the
Beta of Orca, which really didnt work yet as expected. But yeah it's a beta.
So I've uninstalled it, but now I could not use any installed Device
Emulator on VS 2005 anymore.

So I've uninstalled ALL components of VS 2005, all Emulators. And then I've
reinstalled it all. It gives no error message, it is installing the Smart
Device SDKs normally (WM 5.0 & WM 6.0), but the Emulators dont show up
anymore in the Device Emulator, and I cannot select the project templates in
VS 2005 anymore...

Any hint how I can solve that?

Thanks

Sven

This is why you should never install pre-released software on production
machines.
It is generally important you uninstall the beta product in the correct
order, did you do this?

If you have not done so already, you may want to read this:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/F/7/9F79D1D8-72FD-407C-88F7-D2254EB4E0AD/VSNETSDKcontents.htm

Starting with 1.2.4, all the things that uninstalling Orcas with VS 2005
installed breaks are detailed. As you have tried reinstalling VS 2005 to no
avail, you may need to manually remove any and all references to Visual
Studio and/or dotnet from your registry before installing VS 2005. If that
fails, you may have to reinstall you OS.

if nothing else works, try restoring from a restore-point instead of
re-installing windows. it might save you some work.

Have you read the release notes, it should tell you how to uninstall the
beta. You might have to remove various reg keys etc just like you had to do
with the Jan CTP version of Orcas.

I recommend using Microsoft Virtual Server/Virtual PC in the future to
install CTP's/beta's

Typically in issues like this the best option is

1) Remove the Data Store manually (Lots of info on the VSD Team blog)
2) Re-Install VS 2005
3) Re-Install the SDKs

Your machine should be back to normal though any setting in the Data Store
for personalization of SDKs / Emulators will be lost.
