visual studio .net setup : Visual Studio 2003 ( Academic version) install on Vista Basic

hi,

i am trying to install visual studio 2003 academic version on Vista but it
jsut does not install and this is what happens

put in the disk1 and it asks me for prereq cd
put in the prereq cd, it installs it and asks for CD1
i put in CD1 and nothing happens, almost like it dies


Any help is appreciated.

Visual Studio .NET 2003 is not supported in Vista.

Visual Studio 2005 can be installed and used in Vista if the proper
procedures are followed:
