difference between web application and web site

I want to use the web application project. However when I do I do not have the copy web function. I can use the create a new web site but it does not allow me to set the visibility of files. Could you please make it so that VS installs itself fully on the D:-drive if i ask it to. Especially for VS2008 this is an issue as it uses a LOT of disk space on C: where i do not want it, as my C: drive space is a limited resource. Is this possible?...more >>
