Could you please make it so that VS installs itself fully on the D:-drive if
i ask it to.
Especially for VS2008 this is an issue as it uses a LOT of disk space on C:
where i do not want it, as my C: drive space is a limited resource.

A better place to make suggestions about VS 2008 Beta is:

That said, Windows applications have been placing shared components in a
"known" location on the OS partition since the days of Win 95, so I'm a bit
unsure why this behavior would surprise you. Granted, VS is a big product.
You don't say which version of Windows you're using, but for the future
(especially if you move from XP to Vista, for example), you should consider
expanding the size of your OS partition either by acquiring a larger
physical drive, or by increasing the size of your OS partition on your
existing drive. There are partition management utilities available that will
allow you to resize partitions without loss of data, such as Acronis Disk
Director. There are, IIRC, others that are freeware, but their names escape
me presently.

It doesn't surprise me at all, it irritates me. I know it is possible to
change partition sizes, but i don't want to pay for it, and I don't trust
just any old freeware software. So if they can't stop putting several
gigabytes of shared crap on my C:-drive, I'll just do a full backed up
repartition and reinstall in stead.

It's just that it should'nt be necessary.

Oh yeah, there will be no Vista on this machine. For that I'd need a new
one, so XP for now. Still 15GB OS partition should be all right. I've even
minimised the restore file sizes, moved the virtual memory file, and still
it's not enough.

But all right, I'll post on the VS2008 beta group in stead ;)

Not necessarily instead, but if you want your suggestion considered at all,
you'll need to put it in at the link I gave.
