The missing file is _15780_RTL_x86_enu_NETCF_v2.0.cab

(This install is from an MSDN DVD disk.)

Any idea where I can download the file from?

Any help much appreciated

If this was a download...

Have you verified the integrity of your downloaded image by checking the
SHA-1 against the value on the download page?
If not, do so. Then, after verification, reburn at the slowest speed
available through your burn software.

If it was not a download, or after doing the above if it was, check for
firmware updates for your optical drive. Certain brands/models have been
problematical with old firmware.

Did you check the contents of the vs folder on your DVD to see if it's
there. It is present on mine.

Usually missing file error messages from an installer indicate a drive or
medium problem, and acquiring the cited file will just result in ensuing
error messages alleging that additional files are "missing".

Many thanks for that.

The file turned out to be in the Disk2 folder so I moved it to the Disk1
folder. (And then had to do the same for many others)

I was doing the whole thing from a series of folders on hard disk that were
an exact image of what was on the DVD.

It had previous failed to install direct from the DVD disk because a message
had come up asking me to insert Disk2, and of course there was no Disk2
because Disk1 and Disk2 are just folders on the DVD. Perhaps what confused
it might have been that my hard disk has 2 partitions - C and D and so the
DVD was drive E??

Anyway VS 2005 is now installed so I'm happy.

Kind Regards

Clive
