visual studio .net setup : .NET Framework 3.0 with Visual Studio 2005 on XP - does it work?

Is there any way of getting .NET to show up in Visual Studio .NET 2005 in
Windows XP?
I have installed .NET Framework 3.0 redistributable, so when I load up
Visual Studio .NET and try to create a C# project I expect to see .NET
Framework 3.0 appear in the left tab, and to see Windows Application (WPF)
appearing in Visual Studio installed templates (See
http://www.simple-talk.com/dotnet/.net-framework/getting-started-with-xaml/)

As I need to start developing XAML applications, if I'm not to be marched
off the premises with my worldly possessions in a carrier bag, so any help
given would be gratefully appreciated.

Do I need to upgrade to Vista?

Have I misunderstood the difference between .NET Framework and .NET
Framework SDK, or is one a runtime and the other a development add-on? I did
download the .NET 3.0 Framework from a tab which had SDK in it's name so I
assume it's the right one, or am I missing something?

Thanks a lot for that.
This sorted the problem out.
I now see Net Framework 3.0 in left hand pane, and have the following on
the right hand side:

Windows Application (WPF)
WCF Service Library
XAML Browser Application (WPF)
Custom Control Library (WPF)

The other services (eg workflow) would need to be downloaded separately, but
I have no need for those.

Many thanks again - here's an English eBeer from me.

There is another small issue regarding documentation. The installer
recommends that install the .NET Framewor 3.0 documentation from the Windows
SDK and restart setup.

Also, .NET Framework 3.0 documentation is only currently available as local
help, so if you have your settings to get documentation from online, you're
on your own.

You need to install the VS extensions for 3.0 as well.
Look here:

I found a link to Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows Vista and .NET Framework
3.0 Runtime.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c2b1e300-f358-4523-b479-f53d234cdccf&displaylang=en&Hash=lB89HoNGJXCUey3Y%2bkkam9tlU7v51Qf9%2bYyz6EyQ62%2bHkKDoZfw14rbZTMM18F8OMVKHUrXCD%2b4cIyHDFLyBgw%3d%3d

I installed that then I re-installed the VS extensions.

I was concerned that it might not be right as running on XP, but thought at
the very worst would just reinstall everything. I now have all the online
documentation for the installed templates (WPF etc) and my first few XAML
tests seem to be working fine.

Any comments from anyone as to this link indeed being ok for XP? The text
"Microsoft® Windows® Software Development Kit for Windows Vista™ and .NET
Framework 3.0 Runtime Components" does appear to be ambiguous and it scared
