I have a server on the internet which isnt running IIS and has a URL
or www.xxx.net (for example)

I Installed IIS on this server and have it running on port 8080, it is
servicing some IIS pages

I can see the pages on my lan using the local IP of
http://192.168.2.9:8080 and it all works, however if i do
www.xxx.net:8080 it doesnt work.

What must i do to get my pages visible across the net?

Thanks

Configure your DNS for the www host in the xxx.net domain to point to
the IP address of your server. Use a public IP address instaed of the
private IP space you currently use. If you use a router then you must
NAT the address/port from external to internal, check your router
instructions or a routing newsgroup for this. Your IIS works, so your
problems are elsewhere.
