inetserver iis : Cannot view localhost .aspx files in IE

I have been developing a web project in VS.NET 2003.

Recently I have unable to display any .aspx pages from localhost. I receive
an "Application Server Error". When I check the Event Viewer, under System,
there is the warning:

"The server failed to load application '/LM/W3SVC'. The error was 'The
specified metadata was not found."

I have tried re-installing IIS, .NET Framework 1.1 and 2.0, but none of
these have resolved the problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Make sure the proper script mappings are setup.

Steve, I checked the Application Configuration Mappings (is this what you
mean?)on the Home Directory of the Default Website and .aspx is listed.

On the ASP.NET page, what version of ASP.NET version should be selected?

Thanks for your help.

Is ASP.NET registered? Sometimes you need to re-register it...
