inetserver iis : webdav and iis

I have a web server running Windows Server 2003 Standard x64, with IIS 6.0
loaded, and I can't seem to get WebDAV to work.

These are the steps I've followed to try to get WebDAV to work:

1. Opened the IIS Manager, and made sure that the WebDAV extension in the
Web Service Extensions was Allowed.

2. Created a new user account as a member of the Users group.

3. Created a new folder in my D:\ drive, called 123, and in the security,
added the previously created user with Full Control.

4. Opened the IIS Manager, and created a virtual directory with
Read/Write/Browse access pointing to the previously created directory.

But if I try to access this directory using IE6 in Windows 2000 by clicking
File -> Open, checking the Open as Web Folder, IE6 reports "Internet
Explorer could not open <url> as a Web Folder. Would you like to see its
default view instead?"

Interestingly, if I try to use BitKinex to view the WebDAV directory, the
log reports that IIS sends back 501 Not Implemented in response to the
PROPFIND HTTP verb.

What have I not done correctly, or what is causing it to do this?

Turns out that re-installing the World Wide Web service fixed the issue.
