inetserver iis : Hosting multiple web sites with multiple ids on single network card

Hi,

We are having difficulties trying to add a second web site to iis on same network card with 2 different ips.

We have added the second site on same port as our default site by reference to IP Address and without host header value.

We got it to work once or twice for a short time. but then it just stopped and now we can't get it to work at all.

One of the web sites (the default) has SSL assigned and the other doesn't (but will have at some point). Wouldn't imagine this makes any difference.

What happens is that we can access both websites internally via domain. The second site cannot be accessed internally via its ip. When we do this we get a bad request (invalid hostname). The default site can be accessed via ip.

Externally, the default site can be accessed but not the second site.

Also, as soon as we add the second ip to our network card our internet access ceases to work on all workstations. We can still access the network, but we can't access internet. Internet access is still available however via the server.

If anyone could please give us a few pointers it would be much appreciated as we have run out of ideas

Many thanks.
