thanks for that everyone, i will have a look at the free ms program a
suggested. but i think i will probably stick to designing static htm
pages, which i have just about mastered.

its just a shame - i wanted to be able to do the whole thing, desig
and applications. it just seems a bit silly that i cant even get
simple contact page together becuase i dont understand the workings o
the code.

thanks again everyone

You can always ask questions about ASP code here.

Getting an answer is another thing, Tim?

http://beta.asp.net/QUICKSTARTV20/aspnet/ may help but if you are not
familiar with programming there is quite a steep learning curve ahead...

As a quick intro, ASP.NET is just a way to create "computed" HTML code. Each
request sent to the server will make your code run (at this point you'll be
able to read the values entered by te user to register them in a DB) and
generally you'll respond with an updated HTML markup to display what the
user should see...

This group is about ASP (the old flavor). Try instead an aspnet group if you
choose this path...

Good luck in your new job ;-)

There is a solution to that -- Learn the workings of the code. You
had to learn HTML after all, why not keep learning? Pick up a book,
start with a few tutorial web sites, just get going.

As with any newsgroup, there is no guarantee that you'll get an
answer. But many people who know a LOT about ASP hang out here, and
they hang out here because they want to discuss it and offer answers
to questions that arise.

If nobody know the answer to your question, you won't get an answer.
Most of the time somebody does have an answer.
