Anyone know a great tutorial that teaches how to have a preloader within the main movie for an external swf without a progressive bar and all that other stuff that
tells you how much is loading? All I want to have is an animation that says loading.

[quoted text, click to view]

there is P. bar in these but does not mean you have to use it .
Just check how and what actions are used to check external content
loading and act on it once done :

Preloaders
-Simple Preloader with one movie loaded to level
-Simple Preloader with one movie loaded to target
-Multiple Preloader with x movies loaded to levels
-Multiple Preloader with x movies loaded to targets
-Multiple Preloader with x movies (incl. percent and bps)
-Multiple Preloader with x movies (single and multiple percent and bps)
