Problem starting Flash! jtjr29

flash (macromedia):
I am trying to start up Flash from the Studio MX 2004 Educational version and when Flash gets to "initializing fonts", it seems to die. I am running Win98 SE and when I check the Close Program window, Flash is "not responding". Anyone have any ideas? I was running the program yesterday then got hit with a bunch of spyware stuff. Don't know if this is causing any conflicts?

Thanks

Thanks for the detail... the failure occurring at that time usually
indicates some problem loading fonts... in the past I've seen similar
symptoms associated with a particular damaged font, or in some cases an
older font manager (rarer now). The way to confirm this as a cause is to
simplify down to the basic font set to check whether the behavior
changes, and then to slowly add fonts until the suspect one is identified.

You can also try rebooting your system in safe mode and see if the same thing would happen. To start Windows in Safe Mode (95/98/2000/Me/XP), hold down the F8 key while the system is booting up. When the Windows startup menu appears, select Safe Mode. Once Windows has been booted into Safe Mode/VGA Mode, run the application and perform the same actions that caused the problem. If the problem does not occur in Safe/VGA Mode, then it's likely that other applications or drivers which are running when in Normal mode are causing the conflict.
