flash (macromedia):
So I'm making thse banners for a non profit and they look lovely -- now as you vets know, wrapping the embed and object tags doesn't amke it clickable - and the old flash 3 way of putting URLs in is completely different. I understood it, therefore it had to change ;) ...

Anyway, I'd be super grateful for any advice on how to make an entire movie "hot" and clickable. And don't be afraid to be detailed or talk down to me, I confess, I'm truly lost.

you need to make an invisible button:

1. make new layer over layer with bitmap.
2. use rectangle (or other) tool to draw shape (fill) over area you want *hot*.
3. select this shape and convert to a symbol with button behavior.
4. double click button instance to go into *edit in place* mode.
5. click the first frame in button (UP) selecting it in black.
6. click again and DRAG it to the HIT frame (you should now have only 1 keyframe containing this shape in HIT state).
7. go back to stage - you'll notice button instance is now a transparent bluish color.
8. open actions, select instance and add your actions - season to taste.

upon export, your button wil be invisible since whatever is in the HIT state only detirmines the *hot* area of your movie - the shape will not be exported.
