flash (macromedia): Hi, i'm a beginner so i'm presuming this will be fairly easy 2 answer :) I have made my own buttons using flash but dont know how to link it to a page! Whats the easiest way of doing this? Thanks.

If you want to link to a page outside your movie, use the Get URL action and simply
type in the (complete) address of the page you want to reference. You don't have to type
he complete address if the page is local to the directory, but it's a good habit to get into early
on in your flashing...
You also have a few options as to windows - (old style html really) _self _balnk _parent and _top
this is where the new page will be displayed
These refer to;
self: the window in which your movie is shoeing
blank: a new window (which will pop up over your movie window)
parent: the parent frame of the window your movie is showing in
top: the top level of the frameset your movie is showing in


As a matter of course, I am recently advising all newbies to get hold of Flash 5 to learn
their way around actionscript - I advise you to do the same if possible. (It's much easier
to pick up the basics of actionscript in flash 5 than MX), and the books are cheaper !
(but don't stop using the latest version - the future is the future after all...)

Thanks for your reply but still having problems. First i applied the action to the whole button (if that makes sense) but that didnt work. I also tried applying action to "hit" part of button, but it wouldnt let me do that!! What am i doing wrong? Thanks.
