flash (macromedia) : content management system

I'm in the process of refining a simple content management system I
built with flash mx and php.
The Content Management Tool is a simple flash interface that loads
variables to a php script which creates a text file.

The text file is then called by the public end which has been also built
in flash for rendering. The person who uses the content management tool
now wants to be able to enter text links into his copy for posting.

I understand that if i use an html based dynamic text field I will be
able to place an a href tag around a piece of text for linking.

however the challenge lies in that the end user does not have the
competence to write an a href tag for linking. so in some way i need to
automate and simplify the process for him.

however I'm not sure the best way forward yet.

I'm thinking about providing an alternate text field apart from the copy
area that allows him to enter the web address into a text field and then
place his cursor in the general copy area where he wants the text link
to reside. Though I'm not sure flash has this type of text manipulation
ability.

what do you think?

any suggestions would be helpful.
Terence
