flash (macromedia) : Object/Text Zoom

This is a bit hard to articulate, so I will do my best.

I am creating a presentation in Flash. I want the opening text to "zoom in" to the center of the presentation as though it is coming from outside the frame (anyone ever seen the movie Superman when the opening titles seem to come from outside the frame and smaller into the center of the frame). In essence, the text that is coming in from outside of the frame large and when it is brought into the center of the frame it will be a smaller size (the zooming I'm referring to is what would happen in between).

I've seen this before in Flash, I just don't know the secret behind it. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I hope I am replying to what you need.

Type the word you want to zoom on the Stage.
Use the arrow tool and click it so that it is selected. It will have a blue box around it.
Turn it into a symbol by either Insert>Convert to symbol, or by pressing F8.
In the Convert to symbol dialog box, give it a Name and select Movie Clip for the behavior. OK.
On the same layer that your text resides, click in (say) frame 20. The frame will be highlighed blue.
Now press F6. This extends your word through frame 19 and creates a keyframe in frame 20.
Now click on frame 1. Your word is selected and has a blue box around it.
Go to the Transform panel. Window>Transform if it is not open.
Make sure that Constrain is checked.
In either one of the boxes to the left of Constrain type in a big number like 900. Your word is huge.
Now right-click on frame 1 and select Create Motion Tween.
You can now export your movie Control+Enter.

Adjust as needed.

Hope this is what you needed! If not, let me know.

Thanks for the update Ed.

That's sort of what I was looking for, but now I need to reverse (by starting with the really large word and have the movie slowly tween down to the normal size). When I used your tips, I was able to enlarge the word, but unable to make the text move back into the movie to the normal size.

Am I skipping a step?

Thanks.

That is OUTSTANDING! That's what I needed. Now I get to play some more.

Thank you both for your tips. It is much appreciated.

It's really quite easy. Make sure your text is converted to a graphic
symbol. On the first frame change the scale of the symbol to about 1000% or
so using the transform palette under the window menu. You might want to move
the text up a bit so that it looks like it's zooming down. On about frame 20
insert another keyframe of the text symbol and change the scale right down
to 20% or so. You then need to click on the gray area between the 2
keyframes and create a motion tween under the insert menu.

You might get a better effect if you make the symbol transparent at the
beginning of the zoom. ( click on the symbol and change the alpha value
under colour in the property inspector)

I hope this helps,
good luck

On the second keyframe at the end of the motion tween (click on the second
black dot in the timeline) you need to change the scale down to what you
want the text size to be.

To make the zooming take longer, move the second keyframe further along the
timeline to about frame 60.

hope this helps
