We all probably know someone who enjoys condescending everything you happen
to ask them, but who never actually gives a constructive answer to your
problem. Annoying are'nt they. Well this Laiverd.COM just about fits this
category i would say. If Laivard.COM has'nt got anything helpful to
contribute then i would suggest he/she please stop filling this newsgroup
with annoying and unhelpful replies. The reason why most people are here is
because they KNOW they don't have the answers.... so perhaps you could
kindly stop reminding them of their shortfalls and perhaps help them find a
solution instead.

The forum rules forbid cross-posting to multiple forums. And for good
reason.

Laiverd.COM (who is a very valuable contributor) is simply pointing that
out.

I don't see anything in his post where he has been condescending, nor has he
criticised anyone for not knowing an answer, nor has he reminding anyone of
their shortfalls.

YOUR post, however, is another matter. Perhaps you should heed your own
advice and offer a solution instead of criticising others who DO contribute.
So far your only post here (recently at least) seems to be this one. So,
thanks to you, we all now know one MORE person who is annoying. Please make
it one less in the future and stop filling the forum with annoying an
unhelpful replies .. as someone recently suggested.

Well I certainly hope that that is not true and that you have some basis in
arguing this. Anyway; apart from the fact that it's basic newsgroup
courtesy, even if it's not, crossposting is an invitation to people to waste
their time on questions that probably already have been answered elsewhere.
And as we are all volunteers here, that seems like a not so nice idea. If
advising your students to go elsewhere would mean a significant decrease in
crossposting, then that's fine by me.

My suggestion however would be to ask them simply to not crosspost and
adhere to some very basic and easy to follow rules of conduct. There's a
bunch of very nice people out there eager to help and although I am aware
that I sometimes may not seem te nicest person around here, I still am one
of those eager to help. Don't let your students be the victim of your own
being pissed.

John

P.s. Jeckyl; thanks for your kind support. Only saw this message just now.
